Pigging Out @ City Buffet, Robinson Galleria

Where would you start when hundred of dishes are laid before you? It can be a bit of a problem, right?

Last time, I dined at City Buffet in Robinson Galleria. I was with a close friend whom I am not ashame to show what a voracious eater I am. We were two hungry people when we came in. And you know that feeling when you are starving--you think you can gobble everything up. I did overestimated myself though.

THE PLACE

It's a nice place. Looks posh as if you are in a fine-dining restaurant. The flower arrangement immediately caught my eyes. Overall, it's a well-designed place.

Upon entering, I first spotted the dessert and pastry station. Made me want to start with the mouth-watering cakes first. Then there was the sushi and sashimi table, salad station, and the main entree table.

BUDGET

For that festive meal, you can say that you are getting the value for your money or even more especially if you have huge appetite. It was a weekday when we visited the place so we paid P499 exclusive of the drinks. It was not bad at all.

They serve Filipino and international cuisine that includes Japanese, American, and Chinese.

Here's the pricing information I got from their Facebook page:

FOOD

Having plenty of food choices can be confusing and challenging even because you want to taste everything. City Buffet was said to offer over 160 dishes.

Since our eating capacity is quite limited, I only got to eat some of the dishes and took like a spoonful on the others just to have a taste. Among the flares presented, what I enjoyed the most are the sushi, sashimi, maki and the dessert.

Here are some mouth-watering photos I grabbed from their Facebook page:

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Makati City

"Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."--this is one of the most memorable quotes in the movie Forrest Gump. The film won multiple awards back in 1994 and it won and melted the heart of many movie watchers. If you have not watched that film, make sure to list it down on your to-watch list. This is one of the most beautiful movie of all time and everybody need to watch it.

The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., the restaurant chain, was born after the success of the movie. Taking its inspiration from the film, the restaurant offers a variety of seafood dishes with focus on shrimp.

THE PLACE

The Bubba Gump restaurant is pretty nostalgic because of the memorabilia of Forrest Gump, which I believe is among the many reasons patrons come here. As the fictional characters of Forrest Gump and Bubba Blue are from Alabama, you can instantly see where the interiors or the concept came from. The relaxing Southern atmosphere make you feel like drinking a cold beer while laughing with your friends. We did that except for the beer. We were so famished and we need a good laugh.

THE FOOD

If you are craving for deep-fried seafood and Cajun dishes, a trip to Bubba Gump could be the answer.

We ordered a bucket of boat trash (deep fried shrimp, spiny lobster and dory with fries) and chicken cordon bleu ( breaded chicken breast stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese, deep fried and served in lobster butter sauce, with mashed potatoes and asparagus spears). Servings were enough to fill 2-3 hungry stomachs.

The next time I'll visit the place, I'll try some of these dishes (photos grabbed from their Facebook page).

Rib Eye & Shrimp Combo
Backyard BBQ Combo
Seafood Pasta in White Sauce
"I'm Stuffed!" Shrimp
Bourbon Street Fish

BUDGET

Budget for three is around P1,500 to P2,000. Good thing we split the bill, which is the advantage of going out with a group. It's a lot cheaper when you all share the expenses. Besides eating at Bubba Gump is really meant for groups.

Prices of the dishes range from P200 to P1,500. The dishes are in hefty serving and are good for 2-3 people.
